Vincent Van Gogh was quoted as saying, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”
Through our two days in October at the Alexander, with the good interactions in the sessions, the conversations at the Nourishment Hub, the connections with our corporate partners, and with colleagues old and new, our association created a great thing this renaissance year. I am so appreciative of all the good work many dedicated members have continued to contribute these past years, and plan to continue this growth modeled by the previous two presidents, Jenn Schwartz and Lesa Beals.
My agenda for the 2016-17 year is to keep the forward movement in revitalizing our connection with the state legislature and also creating a mentorship program, whereby we can connect new professionals with colleagues who have been in the trenches, as another way to move our organization forward. I am grateful to IACRAO members who have already answered the call to serve on the legislative committee and participate in the mentoring program.
Over the next year I hope IACRAO can build on our first foray into transfer admissions issues and provide a home for these colleagues across the state to network and benefit from their common knowledge and experience.
In closing, I’ll share another quote, this one from Henry Ford. “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” If we believe in Ford’s words, then our organization and the time we spend connecting is a true example of our collective successes.
